Speaker Introduction

Dr. Cindy Perry: The year 2018 marks 38 years of ministry for Cindy in the Himalayan region, originally in Nepal from 1980, then moving to Siliguri, West Bengal in 1995. In 2005 Cindy joined Development Associates International (DAI) to focus on leadership development, pioneering the Himalayan Leadership (HimLead) program with another colleague, and helping initiate partnerships for DAI’s Masters in Organizational Leadership (MAOL) degree in North-East India, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. During Cindy’s earlier years in Nepal she served with the International Nepal Fellowship (INF), did research on the national church, and wrote A Biographical History of the Church in Nepal.

     She completed her PhD on the Nepali diaspora in 1994 at the University of Edinburgh-Scotland, later published as Nepali Around the World. Upon her return to the Himalayan region in 1995, she founded and directed Himalayan Ministries for 10 years, focusing on building up local Nepali-Indian led  ministries and NGOs. She also served as an International Coordinator for the HIM-COE and later HIM-GLO (Himalayan Global) movements.

Until today Cindy’s passion is walking and working alongside national and emerging leaders throughout South Asia – delighting in all that God is doing in and through their lives. She can speak Nepali fluently.


MohanDr. Mohan Thapa: Dr. Thapa is from Pokhara, and has been living in the U.S. since 1992. He came as an international student and has since completed his PhD studies in Mathematics. He currently is a math professor at University of Wisconsin. He is involved at the university as a faculty adviser for CRU student ministry, as well as mission activities with his home church. He resides with his wife in West Bend, Wisconsin.



JoshuaPs. Joshua: Ps. Joshua was born and raised in a Muslim family in India and His wife was born in a Hindu family in Nepal. He accepted Christ as a personal savior in 8th June 2002. But when his parents discovered his new faith in Christ, they forced him out of the family. Therefore with prayer and vision to serve God, he decided to go to Nepal in 2006. Over the last ten years he was in Nepal serving God as a full- time minister in the Gospel Church Chitwan & Cross-Way Community church. There he met his wife Babita in 2009 and in 2011 they got married.

In the year 2016, they moved to St. Louis to equipped themselves, so that they can train more Godly leaders to expand God’s kingdom. Currently they both are students at Covenant Theological Seminary. Since a year, He has been pastoring at “Nepali Gospel Church” St. Louis. Their vision is to train Christ-like Nepali leaders to reach out Nepali families who are scattered around the world.











The Organizing Team

Mr. Arjun Bhattarai: Arjun came to America as an International Student in 2006. He attended Liberty University, a Christian university. Though he got to hear the gospel at Liberty, it was not until 2013 he accepted Christ as his savior. He currently lives with his wife Maya, in Buffalo, NY, and work as Care Coordinator for Jericho Road Community Health Center, a nonprofit that primarily serves the marginalized and under served population of Buffalo offering an unconditional love of Jesus. Together with their daughter Juniya, they currently serve at Saranthansthan International church and also at the Chapel.

Mr. Ashok Ghimire: His spiritual journey of Christian faith started in 1984. Since then, he is actively involved in various student ministries, from the time when he was a student in Pulchowk Engineering Campus (Nepal), Philippines, Malaysia and until now in the US. He has also served in various cross-cultural ministries & professional fields in different countries of Southeast and South Asia for over 23 years, and now with the international students, scholars, refugees, immigrants and other ethnic communities in the USA for the last 8 years. He has also pioneered earthbag technology in helping earthquake victims in the villages of Nepal in rebuilding their homes. He has lived cross-culturally in overseas for more than 28 years. He speaks 5 languages fluently. He is ordained as an Independent Christian Minister. He is an engineer by profession with degrees in Civil (Bachelors) and Environmental Engineering (Masters), including a degree in Missions (Masters) from the Philippines. He is currently pursuing Ph.D. in ‘International Development’ at William Carey International University. He lives in Pasadena, California with his wife and two teenage sons.

Mr. Bijay M. Lama: Bijay was born and raised in a Christian family, and has been involved in ministry from a young age. He came to America in 2003 as an International Student. He was involved in student ministries in Nepal during his study at the engineering college. He has been engaged in Nepali speaking ministries in America in various roles since 2003. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University. He works at the IT Department of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He is currently a graduate student at Fuller Theological Seminary. He lives with his wife and daughter in Madison, WI and serves at Ashish Mandali Nepali Church as a pastor.

Mr. Deep Manandhar: Deep came to America in 2007 after completing his undergrad in Computer Engineering to pursue his Graduate studies in Information Technology. He graduated from Lincoln University, California. After graduating in 2010, he moved to Texas, where he met Bijay, who introduced him to Jesus Christ. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2010 and he got the baptism in  2012. He is currently working as a Software Developer. He is passionate about using his technical skills for the kingdom of God. He, his wife and daughter live in Dallas and are serving at International Nepali Church.

Mr. Deepak Bal: Deepak came to America in 2001 and completed his Graduate degree in Health Care System Management, and currently works as a Medical Lab Scientist for a hospital. He accepted Christ in 2012 and has been actively serving in International Nepali Church in Dallas as Missions Director. He is also passionate about fitness, nutrition, and health, and is a Certified Personal Trainer. He, his wife, and son live in Mansfield, TX.

Mrs. Maya Bhattarai: Maya came to America in 2006 to pursue her degree in Nursing. She has completed her Bachelors from Liberty University, and Masters of Science in Nursing from Cedarville University. Maya accepted Christ in 2007 and since has been an active member of NSCSP. She is passionate about pro-life movement and has conducted college researches and seminars on it. She currently works at Jericho Road Community Health Center ( JRCHC) as a Family Nurse Practitioner. JRCHC primarily serves an underserved and marginalized population of Buffalo, including refugees and immigrants with medical and social needs demonstrating an unconditional love of Jesus. Along with her husband and daughter Juniya, they currently serve at Saranthansthan International church and also at the Chapel.

Mr. Sabeen Gurung: Sabeen came to America in 2010. He accepted Christ while he was still living in the refugee camps in Nepal. He completed his degree in Computer Network Engineering at Saint Paul College and works for a non-profit organization (Young Women’s Christian Association of St. Paul) as a Data Specialist. He has been an active member of NSCSP since 2012. He, his family attend and serve at Himalayan Christian Fellowship in Minnesota.

Mr. Samuel Shrestha: Samuel came to America in 2003 as an International Student and has been involved in Nepali speaking Christian ministries since. After completing his MBA, Samuel is working in Information Technology field for a manufacturing company in Minneapolis, MN. He is also an Elder at Himalayan Christian Fellowship (HiCF), St. Paul, MN. He holds a B.A. in Finance and Accounting, B.Sc. Environmental Science, and MBA in Finance. He, his wife, son, and daughter reside in Eagan, Minnesota. He loves to travel and explore new places.

Ms. Vani Tumbahangphe: Vani was born in Hetauda, Nepal and grew up in Kalimpong, India. She moved to Kathmandu for her higher education where she also accepted Christ. After completing her degree in Social Work and Psychology, she came to the US in 2011 for further education. She has Social Work degree from Gordon College. She currently works as a Clinical Consultant in Boston, and calls it her “dream job”. She serves at First Nepali Church in Somerville, MA and she loves exploring new places during her spare time.

Mr. Suraj Shilpakar: Suraj came to the USA as an international student in 2009 and completed his MBA in 2011 from California University, California. After graduating, he moved to Virginia to pursue an IT career. During this time, he learned about the Gospel through his girlfriend (now wife). He accepted Christ as a Lord and Savior in 2014 and got baptized in 2015. He, his wife Sonia and his daughter Aniva live in Wheaton, IL and are serving at Agape Nepali Church of Wheaton. He is currently working for TransUnion as a Sr. Analyst. He is more passionate about music, counseling people, helping others and being humble.

Mr. Josep Baidya: He came to America as an international student on March 19, 2015, in Everett Community College, Washington. He is currently majoring in Bachelor of Science in Computer Information System from The University of Texas at Arlington. He has been utterly fascinated with Jesus and his Jewish heritage ever since he became a Christian at 19 years old. He is interested in Theological Studies and moreover, so very much with Jesus. He loves reading and he is a big fan of C.S. Lewis and Tim Mackie. Currently, he is serving in International Nepali Church, Irving, Texas. In future, he wants to serve God and his people through biblical teaching and discussions.

Ms. Priskila Basnet:  Priskila was born and raised in a Christian family and was passionate about Children’s ministry when she was in Nepal.  She came to USA as an international student in December 2014. She graduated in May 2018 with a Human Resources Management degree from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. She has heart to build the community by holding Bible studies and small group discussions to hold each other strong in faith. Currently, she lives in Minneapolis and looking opportunities to build her career. She serves in Minnesota Revival Center church and in future she wants to lead Bible Story Club for Children in her neighborhood. She likes spending time outside in nature and travelling for fun.

Mr. Rajendra Pandey: He was born in Dhading and grew up in Kathmandu. He completed his Chartered Accountancy (CA) course from New Delhi, India. After working for nearly 8 years, he decided to move to United States in August 2015 to pursue another Master’s degree. For the last two years, he has been working full time as an Assistant Manager with BDO USA LLP, 5th biggest accounting firm in the world. He has been attending Bhutanese Nepali Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and helping in youth service occasionally. He recently graduated with his second Master’s degree in MBA. Apart from his busy work schedule, he loves to indulge himself into varieties of sports like soccer, ping pong, billiards, swimming and badminton.

Mr. Ballu Tamang:Ballu was born in Christian family and came to US in 2010. Ballu holds a Master of Science degree in Information System from Strayer University, VA. Ballu is currently working at DHS HQ as a SharePoint Consultant Contractor. He and his family are member of United Nepalese Fellowship, Virginia. Ballu loves photography, and outdoor activities like hiking and bike riding.

Mr. Prayad Tamang: Prayad was born and raised in a Christian family in Kathmandu, Nepal. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his family where he is pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from University of Massachusetts Boston. Prayad is an assistant choir leader at Global Mission Church Boston. He also serves at an Indian and Philipino church as a choir leader. Prayad loves to worship God with his God gifted voice and skills of playing musical instruments.
